Today I've opened Unity 2 times! Fantastic! Today I've been working on coming up with some puzzles for the rooms that are left to make. We have gotten an OK from the programmers that we might have a 4th enemy which is nice. It's a bouncing orb that goes through the room until it's killed, without a goal it just bounces of everything it hits. Which is an annoying element that you have to manoeuvre around which is nice in some rooms.
So I started off wanted to make a puzzle where you have about 6 torches in one room. When you light one of them that particular one wont be lit, but it will light 2 other torches instead, and having them light eachother but the more I messed around with it the more I thought that it would not fit with the difficulty level of the game, as well as I don't think it would work at all with our current system that is in place. So I went on with something else instead.
This first one is a timed puzzle. Where the torches will go out after a while. The time is chosen by me but the values is still not set in stone since we have not chosen our preffered movespeed in game. But the goal is to light the torches in this particular order. But since the players wont know the order they will see that they go out after a while and discover that they have different timers. So the players in this case must be at different sides of the room and either bounce the flame on the wall infront of the torch or do a hold of the flame to light the torch and then move out and send it over. then move over to the east side of the room and do the same there and finally meet in the middle to light the 2 middle torches in very quick succession or they'll go out before they are all lit.
The second one I did was a combination room.
The blue circle is a pond. The pink circle is the bouncing enemy , the grey circle is the Dullahan enemy and the white circle is the Banshee. So when lighting a torch 1,2 or 3, the corresponding numbered enemy will spawn. So if they players are to eager and light all the flames at the same time they will have 3 enemies to deal with. And the Banshee can turn the torches off which might or might not spawn more enemies..
The room above is one of the first rooms you can enter after coming to the main HUB. So this is a very simple combat room to start things out for our players. With some couches and furniture in the middle as a blockage.
I've also talked some music with our music dude and I have written a cover letter to StarStable.
So I'm very excited and I really hope I get a good answer :) I would be over the moon if I could get an internship.
ALSO , our programmers did a very nice job implementing with help of martin our environmental artist a way that we only have to work the room prefabs in unity. So we don't have to manage the entire gameplay scene. Which feels like magic and it's such a nice quality of life change.
Tomorrow I'll probably need to make some more sounds, finish up the tutorial and do some rooms in unity.
