Today we started out by having some concerns from our lead programmer. He feels like the game we have right now feels like it's gonna be bad. Since we are just walking around 2 shotting every enemy with an attack that looks the same and feel really clunky so far. And concerns about the AI, now all melee AI is just running towards you whacking you and you can't even see the attacks coming out.
I don't think that they have been informed about the talk we had with our teachers and the animator and. We talked about feedback when it comes to the melee attack, that we are going to have some sort of freeze frames when the attacks connects with the enemy so we have that sensation of a blade actually hitting flesh or something. That on top of some slight vfx and sound should atleast do something give the player something of a good feeling and not make it feel very stiff.
When it comes to the AI we have some suggestions of what could be done, maybe if there is more than 3 the 4th and 5th enemy could wait for "their turn" kind of and only come in when there is only 2 or less. The ranged enemy should try to avoid the player and attack from a far. The ranged at the moment just stands still. He can line up at a corner and as soon as he has vision he will stand ther and shoot at you, EVEN if the projectiles are getting destroyed by the wall he is next to. So we want the ranged to atleast recognize that the projectiles are destroyed and then they move to get a new angle.
After lunch we got a new build that fixed some minor bugs but we got a couple new ones at the same time. But we are aware of them. Enemies now does not aggro at all for the first room. This is known but we can use this for testing damage numbers now which is nice. Another thing was something that I already forgot because I'm writing this later than I got the info. Something about the resource gain again. Our last problem was that we got the health and energy 281 times in a couple of seconds and now it's is just doubled in some cases.
So now we can atleast test some numbers and ranged and speeds and stuff which is nice.
